Balinese Inspired Pendant

Balinese Inspired Pendant

I have a small list of artists that I truly admire. I admire their work, their career and above all, the way they deal with the material I chose to work with.

Last month I was in Brazil and I had the privilege to meet one of these artists in person.

She was the one who inspired me the most, back in 2017 when I started searching for the best medium available for the kind of jewellery I had envisioned.

It was watching her that I decided to take this path into polymer clay.

She has more than 30 years of experience, she is the precursor of the medium in my country, she is an author, she signs our Brazilian brand @pvclay and is such a delight to be around.

It is hard to describe those hours we spent together in her studio - we chatted for hours, I could see all the pieces I had only seen online, I was able to touch her Marajo collection🤩🤩🤩 and listened to the story behind it. WOW. I felt like being with a superstar, and somehow I really was.

The only regret I have... I don't have a picture of us together!! I got so involved in the moment that, well... I am old fashion and most of the time, I'd rather savour the moment, live the present...

Here is the piece I made under her guidance - and I must confess, I was really nervous to work under her watch.

This is a Balinese inspired pendant, all handmade in black clay, and then pigmented in silver.

Thank you so much, my dear @bcominatto for sharing a bit of your knowledge with me and for making me believe in my work. Hope I can see you again next year, and this time... we take a picture together right at the beginning, deal?
