I have a real passion for the Soutache technique, but I’ve never been great with a sewing needle and thread. I’ve tried many times, but honestly, even sewing on a button feels like a challenge for me - really!
So, being able to adapt the Soutache technique to polymer clay has been such a joy for me. I can now create vibrant layers that twist and turn in different directions, surrounding cabochons and beads, that in my case, are also made in polymer clay.
I’m still refining my technique, constantly adapting and experimenting with different approaches to achieve the exact look I envision.
These are my latest Soutache creations, made them days before driving to the Czech Republic to attend Polymer Week 2024,where I showcased the necklace as my "best piece"- so far.
It was my first statement necklace using this technique, and it was inspired by the stunning Soutache work of Veronique Creazioni.
The statement earrings follow the same colour pallete and design.
They are incredibly light, comfortable, and unique.
